Abstract

The main purpose of research in this article is the problem of rhythm phenomenon interpretation in general and in prose in particular by antique authors — oratorical art investigators. In consequence of thorough different primary sources analysis we found out that some antique authors in the process of examining rhythm conception paid inadequate attention to it but the others described it in a profound way. Their opinions give us the complete idea about figures, which are typical of rhythmical structure of the text and coincide with the modern linguistic and literary terms. We also noticed the discrepancy between the definition of these figures, their number and classification.
