Abstract

The importance of the individual in the historical, social and sports processes of society is always the subject of close attention of scientists and educators. The development of modern Ukrainian sailing became possible thanks to famous athletes, extraordinary and talented coaches, individual enthusiasts who took on the functions of both club organizers and financiers and ideologists of young sports. Over the years of independence, Ukrainian sailing has experienced both periods of decline and ups, but active support from Olympians has contributed to the preservation of traditions, the development of a coaching school, the popularization of sailing among young people and the increase in the international authority of Ukraine in the world sports arena.
