Геоморфологічні процеси в якості передумови територіально-політичних суперечностей

Abstract

The publication focuses on geomorphological processes, which can be a prerequisite for territorial and political conflicts between states. Analysis of databases on border conflicts makes it possible to conclude that the following exogenous geomorphological processes contribute to the emergence of territorial disputes: 1) river channel processes (meandering, accumulation of sediments and disappearance of river islands, displacement of the thalweg, emergence and disappearance of channels); 2) anthropogenic processes related to the active influence of man on the terrain and subsequent inconsistency in the interpretation of borderlines by the subjects of international relations. Endogenous processes associated with seismic activity and its consequence – the appearance of destructive tsunamis are the prerequisites for changing the circumstances of territorial disputes.
