Лексичні новоутворення та неологізми: екстралінгвальні фактори їх появи та засвоєння мовою

Abstract

The article deals with the problem of differentiation of new lexical formations and neologisms proper. Special emphasis is laid on the linguistic and extraiinguistic factors of their formation (emergence). On the basis of the English lexicon the dynamics of the development of new lexical units, i. e. their movement from the nucleus to the periphery and vice versa has been studied. As a result of the research performed it has been revealed that neologisms appear in the language of science, culture, politics, i. e. literary written language whereas new formations emerge, as a rule, in colloquial speech
