-etum, -onne [on], -onnes [on], -ette [εt], -ettes [εt], -ot [o]: Castellet, Carcassonne, Rochette, Annot, Gravelotte.
Non-derivative, derivative, complex (monosyllabic, two- and three-component) and compound (prepositional and union) toponyms form the morphological structure of toponymic vocabulary of the French language. The morphological structure of toponymic vocabulary of the French language consists of non derivative, derivative, complex (monosyllabic, two- and three-component) and compound (prepositional and union) toponyms. Topoformant is the defining structural feature of a particular toponymic type. This follows from the fact that topoformant is a suffix or other component of a composite that is repeated in toponymic formations. Formants of derivatives of suffix toponyms belong to the Gallic, Latin, German appellatives. Destinative suffix models which belong to the class of toponyms -et [e] <lat. suff. -etum, -onne [on], -onnes [on], -ette [εt], -ettes [εt], -ot [o]: Castellet, Carcassonne, Rochette, Annot, Gravelotte; were identified within the morphological method of the derivation of toponyms The suffix -acum or -iacum (<Celtic suff. -aco) (Andeliacum> Les Andelys, Antoniacum <Antony) performs attributive-relative functions and indicates that the object belongs to a specific owner. Complex names are examples of a morphological way of the formation, while compound names are examples of a syntactic one. 637 names and almost 2000 place names with the component Saint belong to Complex toponyms. They are divided into two groups by structure criteria as follows: monosyllabic (455 names) (formed as a result of basis of the word compounding process) and verbose. Complex verbosities are more numerous (182 + 2000 with the component Saint). Three types of formations were distinguished as follows: basis + basis (Saint-Jean, Montaigu); names which containing three full words (Fontenay-Paris-Plage); the names of places with four meaningful words (Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val). French compound toponyms are formed by using prepositions and conjunctions. We have recorded 237 composite names and about 1500 from Saint. Three-component toponyms (reference component + preposition + dependent component) are widespread: Argenton-sur-Creuse, Château-du-Loir, Aulnay-sous Bois. Such names perform locative functions. They point to the spatial location of the territory and often tying it to another significant object.
