Abstract

The article analyzes the participation of Ukrainian athletes in the Winter Olympic Games. It is found that athletes with Ukrainian roots have been participating in the Winter Olympic Games since 1924. It is noted that the opinions of experts and the public differ on the question of when Ukrainian athletes began to participate in the Winter Olympic Games. There are several options: 1994 - the first participation of an independent Ukrainian team; 1992 - participation as part of a united team under the Olympic flag; 1956 - as part of the occupation team of the USSR; 1924 - as part of the USA, Poland and Czechoslovakia. It is proposed to recognize that Ukrainians began to participate in the Winter Olympic Games since 1924. Thus, honoring the long traditions of the Ukrainian Olympic movement.
