Abstract: The Kherson region has given humanity a whole constellation of outstanding athletes representing various sports disciplines: canoeing and kayaking, in which Serhii Chukhrai became a three-time Olympic champion; athletics, where Valerii Borzov became a two-time winner; artistic gymnastics, in which Tetiana Lysenko repeatedly rose to the podium of glory; rowing, where Serhii Postriekhin and Inna Osypenko-Radomska secured Olympic fame for the Kherson region; handball, in which the name of Kherson native Serhii Bebeshko is inscribed in golden letters; basketball, where Valerii Hoborov became a champion of the highest level, a standard to which new generations of athletes still aspire; and trampoline jumping, in which Kherson native Yurii Nikitin became not just an Olympic champion, but a legend. And of course, in light of the historic sporting achievements of our athletes, we cannot help but take pride in the new stars of Kherson’s sporting arena, among whom the shooter Daria Dudka shines particularly brightly.
