Промова папи Урбана ІI на Клермонському соборі 1095 р. як історичне джерело

Abstract

У статті здійснено комплексний аналіз п’яти основних версій промови папи Римського Урбана ІІ на Клермонському соборі у 1095 р., визначено причини та передумови мобілізації та консолідації населення Західної Європи до хрестових походів. Наукова новизна полягає у систематизації ключових версій промови, визначеннs структурних частин, головних ідей та особливостей варіантів звернення Урбана ІІ на Клермонському соборі 1095 р. Аналіз стану наукової розробки проблеми свідчить про відсутність в сучасній українській історіографії комплексного дослідження цієї пробле- матики. Визначено, що основні версії промови Урбана ІІ записані у ключових хроніках хрестових походів, а саме: «Єрусалимській історії» Фульхерія Шартрського, анонімна хроніці «Діянні франків та інших єрусалимців», «Єрусалимській історії» Роберта Монаха, «Історії єрусалимських подо- рожей» Бальдеріка з Долу та «Діянні Бога через франків» Гвіберта Ножанського, мають спільні ідеї та власні особливості. Спільними для майже усіх версій є ідея «справедливої війни», не менш важливе значення належить емоційному описі страждань християн на Сході та варварських злочинах мусульман. Автор доводить, що з усіх версій найбільшою об’єктивністю виріз- няється промова Урбана ІІ, яка вміщена в «Єрусалимській історії» Фульхерія Шартрського, який був не лише учасником Клермонського собору та першого хрестового походу, але й каноніком Храму Гробу Господнього, лише ця версія містить не лише заклик до початку хрестового походу, але й звернення до духовенства щодо недопущення симонії, зміцнення духовної влади у контексті боротьби за інвеституру.

The article provides a comprehensive analysis of the five primary versions of Pope Urban II’s speech at the Council of Clermont in 1095, identifying the causes and prerequisites for the mobilization and consolidation of the Western European population for the Crusades. The scientific novelty lies in the systematization of the key versions of the speech, the definition of its structural components, main ideas, and the specific features of the various accounts of Urban II’s address. An analysis of the current state of scholarship indicates a lack of comprehensive research on this issue within contemporary Ukrainian historiography. It is established that the key versions of Urban II’s speech – recorded in the major chronicles of the Crusades, namely the Historia Hierosolymitana by Fulcher of Chartres, the anonymous Gesta Francorum et aliorum Hierosolymitanorum, the Historia Iherosolimitana by Robert the Monk, the Historiae Hierosolymitanae by Baldric of Dol, and the Dei gesta per Francos by Guibert of Nogent – share common ideas while possessing unique characteristics. Common to nearly all versions is the concept of a "just war," alongside an equally significant and emotional description of the suffering of Christians in the East and the barbaric crimes of Muslims. The author argues that among all versions, the speech recorded in the Historia Hierosolymitana by Fulcher of Chartres stands out for its objectivity. Fulcher was not only a participant in the Council of Clermont and the First Crusade but also a canon of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. His version is unique in that it includes not only the call for the Crusade but also an address to the clergy regarding the prevention of simony and the strengthening of spiritual authority within the context of the Investiture Controversy.
