Translation of Amplifying Comparative Constructions in Modern Fiction

Abstract

Amplifying comparative constructions are widely used in literary works of many authors, thus constituting an exceptional flavour of a literary work. The article aims to highlight procedures, techniques, methods, strategies and tactics that prove useful to faithfully reproduce English amplifying comparative constructions in Ukrainian translations. We have conducted an experiment aimed at identifying individual respondents' creative approaches to the reproduction of these units into the Ukrainian language, taking into account their translation experience, creative approach, the style of the author, the level of knowledge of the source language and the target language, their background knowledge.

Construcțiile comparative amplificatoare sunt folosite pe scară largă оn operele literare ale multor autori, reprezentвnd, dвnd, astfel, culoare unei opere literare. Articolul de față evidențiază procedurile, tehnicile, metodele, strategiile și tacticile care se dovedesc a fi utile pentru reproducerea fidelă a construcțiilor comparative amplificatoare din limba engleză оn traducerile оn limba ucraineană. Autorii prezentului studiu au efectuat un experiment menit să identifice abordările creative ale respondenților оn ceea ce privește reproducerea acestor unități оn limba ucraineană, ținвnd cont de factori precum experiența acestora оn domeniul traducerilor, creativitate, stilul, nivelul de cunoaștere a limbii sursă și a limbii țintă și cunoștințele generale.
