Abstract: Prydnistrovsky Opillya occupies a south-east part of natural district of Opillya. It is characterized by typical Opillya landscapes with highland relief, wide-leaf, oak and oak-hornbeam forests, and grey forest soils. Agricultural activity influenced a vulnerable ecosystem component - soils. Intensive and prolonged development of agriculture in Opillya become an important factor of the development of degradation processes in grey forest soils: mechanic and biochemical. These processes caused the deterioration of peculiarities in the soils: diminution of the power of humus- eluvial horizon, humus content and storage, deterioration of structure-aggregate state and general physical peculiarities. Grey forest soils fertility lowering became the consequence of this condition. Degradation processes weakened ecological soils stability, caused the deterioration of their ecological functions. Measures concerning the improvement of ecological situation in the region have been recommended.
