Еколого-географічні аспекти водокористування Волинської області в умовах сьогодення

Abstract

У статті розглянуто еколого-географічні аспекти водокористування Волинської області в умовах сьогодення як важливої складової природно-ресурсного потенціалу регіону та чинника формування територіальної організації господарства. Проаналізовано забезпеченість області поверхневими й підземними водами, особливості їх просторового розміщення та значення у водозабезпеченні населення і різних галузей економіки. Визначено структуру водоспоживання, провідну роль сільського господарства та комунально побутового сектору, а також територіальні відмінності обсягів використання водних ресурсів, зокрема підвищене водоспоживання в південній частині області та місті Луцьку. Оцінено динаміку забору води у 2004 2024 рр., що характеризується загальним зниженням обсягів унаслідок скорочення промислового виробництва та зростанням частки підземних вод у загальній структурі водокористування до 79 %, що зумовлює підвищення навантаження на підземні водоносні горизонти. Проаналізовано вплив водогосподарської діяльності на екологічний стан водних об’єктів, встановлено погіршення якості води, пов’язане з недостатнім очищенням стічних вод та локальним антропогенним навантаженням. Наголошено на необхідності комплексного еколого географічного підходу до управління водними ресурсами з урахуванням природних умов, рівня господарського освоєння та просторової диференціації водокористування. Обґрунтовано доцільність розроблення нових і вдосконалення існуючих природоохоронних заходів, спрямованих на раціоналізацію використання водних ресурсів, зменшення техногенного впливу, покращення якості води та забезпечення екологічної безпеки регіону.

The study examines the ecological and geographical aspects of water use in Volyn region under present-day conditions, highlighting its role as a key component of the regional natural resource potential and a factor in the territorial organization of economic activities. The relevance of the research is determined by increasing anthropogenic pressure on water resources, changes in the hydrological regime, deterioration of surface and groundwater quality, and the necessity to ensure sustainable regional development. The aim of the study is to analyze water use patterns, identify main water supply problems, and assess the current state of water resources in the region, considering both natural and socio-economic factors. The research employed a combination of methods, including statistical analysis of water use data for 2004–2024, cartographic analysis of spatial differentiation of water consumption, comparison of groundwater and surface water use, assessment of water quality indicators, and evaluation of anthropogenic impacts on the ecological condition of water bodies. The availability of surface and groundwater resources in the region was analyzed. Water resources of Volyn region are actively used to meet the various needs of the population and economic sectors. The main water consumption is attributed to the residential and municipal sector, as well as agriculture. The principal water users in Volyn region are the food and sugar industries. Key problems identified include a reduction in total water abstraction due to declining industrial production, an increase in the share of groundwater to 79%, deterioration of water quality caused by insufficient wastewater treatment, and local anthropogenic pressures. The study revealed clear territorial differences in water use, with the highest consumption observed in the southern part of the region and in the city of Lutsk. The results demonstrate the necessity of a comprehensive ecological and geographical approach to water resource management, taking into account natural conditions, levels of economic development, and spatial differentiation of water use. The practical significance lies in applying these findings to regional water planning, improving environmental protection measures, and enhancing efficiency in water management. The scientific novelty consists in an integrated assessment of water use dynamics, spatial patterns of abstraction, and the relationship between anthropogenic pressure and water quality, enabling the identification of priority directions for sustainable and rational water use in Volyn region. The research results can be used in scientific and educational activities as well as in the development of regional programs for water resource protection.
